This role is essential in assessing residential units for adherence to established program standards. Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting thorough inspections of housing properties.
  • Preparing detailed reports and documenting findings.
  • Engaging with the community and providing clear explanations of regulations.
  • Utilizing sound judgment and problem-solving skills to foster positive interactions with residents and property owners.
  • Traveling between various properties as part of daily duties.

Furthermore, the selected candidate will be expected to complete the Housing Inspector training certification within the first year of employment.

Ideal candidates will possess:

  • A high school diploma along with two years of higher education experience.
  • Strong communication and organizational abilities.
  • Experience in public housing, including Section 8, counseling, and case management.
  • Knowledge of housing inspection codes and regulations.
  • Familiarity with building construction and maintenance.
  • Ability to effectively communicate housing maintenance solutions to property owners.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is highly desirable.
  • A valid driver's license and a clean driving record with a fully insured vehicle.
