Position Overview:
The Commonwealth of Virginia is looking for several part-time Instructional Coaches to contribute to our educational initiatives.

Role Responsibilities:
Instructional Coaches will engage in remote coaching sessions, assisting mentor educators as they refine specific teaching techniques through brief, simulated exercises. Coaches will receive training on established coaching methodologies applicable to various mixed-reality teaching scenarios aimed at preservice educators. These scenarios will encompass key areas such as elementary mathematics instruction and the mentoring skills necessary for guiding student teachers.

During each coaching session, the Instructional Coach will observe the mentor educator navigating a simulation, followed by providing feedback on effective teaching practices before the mentor re-engages with the simulation. This coaching process is designed to enhance both instructional and mentoring capabilities, fostering improved teaching outcomes.

Position Details:
This is a wage position, not eligible for leave or additional benefits, with a maximum of 1500 hours of work annually. The Commonwealth will conduct background checks on all new hires prior to employment, which will also include an Education Verification.

Qualifications Required:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • A minimum of 5 years of teaching experience in K-6 settings
  • Availability to commit 10-20 hours per week, including occasional evenings and weekends
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Proficiency with remote communication platforms
  • Capability to work effectively in a virtual environment
Compensation:
Anticipated hourly rate ranges from $25 to $30, depending on qualifications.
