Position Overview:
The Commonwealth of Virginia is looking for dedicated part-time Instructional Coaches to support the educational initiatives within our teaching programs.

Role Responsibilities:
Instructional Coaches will engage in remote coaching sessions with mentor educators as they refine specific teaching techniques through simulated learning experiences. Coaches will receive comprehensive training on established coaching methodologies across various mixed-reality teaching scenarios designed for preservice educators. These scenarios will encompass a range of subjects, including elementary mathematics and effective mentoring strategies for student teachers.

During each coaching session, the Instructional Coach will observe the mentor educator navigating a simulation, followed by providing constructive feedback on best practices. This iterative coaching approach empowers mentor educators to enhance their instructional and mentoring capabilities, positively impacting their teaching practices.

Position Details:
This is a wage-based position, not eligible for leave or additional benefits, with a maximum of 1500 work hours annually. For further details regarding wage employment, please refer to the relevant resources.

Background Checks:
The Commonwealth of Virginia will conduct background checks on all new hires prior to employment, which will include an Education Verification.

Qualifications Required:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum of 5 years of teaching experience in K-6
  • Availability to commit 10-20 hours weekly, including occasional evenings and weekends
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Proficiency in using the Zoom platform
  • Capability to operate effectively in a remote work setting
Compensation:
Anticipated hourly wage is between $25 and $30, based on qualifications.
