Position Overview:
The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking multiple part-time Instructional Coaches to contribute to the educational development of preservice teachers through the TeachSIM Lab.

Role Responsibilities:
Instructional Coaches will engage in remote coaching sessions, guiding mentor teachers as they refine specific skills in simulated teaching scenarios. Coaches will receive training on standardized coaching protocols applicable to various mixed-reality simulation scenarios, with a focus on elementary mathematics and effective mentoring techniques.

During each simulation, the coach will observe the mentor teacher, provide feedback on best practices, and facilitate a repeat of the simulation to enhance instructional and mentoring capabilities. This collaborative coaching approach aims to strengthen the instructional skills of mentor teachers, positively impacting their teaching and mentoring practices.

Position Details:
This is a wage position, not eligible for leave or benefits, limited to 1500 hours of work annually. Background checks and education verification will be conducted for all new hires.

Qualifications Required:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum of 5 years of K-6 teaching experience
  • Availability of 10-20 hours per week, including occasional evenings and weekends
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Zoom and remote working environments
Compensation:
Anticipated hourly rate ranges from $25 to $30, based on qualifications.
