Strategic Sourcing Specialist

Qualifications for the

Sourcing Manager:

  • At least three years of experience in Indirect Strategic Sourcing. Familiarity with Human Resources, Financial Services, contact centers, outsourcing, and travel is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated business acumen.
  • Exceptional analytical, verbal, and written communication abilities.
  • Proficient in issue resolution, negotiation, and project management.
  • Strong interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and exhibit leadership qualities.
  • Self-driven and capable of working independently.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with a track record of influencing stakeholders.
  • Adaptability and resilience in a dynamic environment.
  • Problem-solving skills to ensure sound business and financial recommendations.
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel pivot tables.
  • Experience in drafting and reviewing contracts.
  • Understanding of basic information security and data privacy principles as they relate to contract negotiations.

Responsibilities for the

Sourcing Manager:

Collaborate with various Senior Managers across multiple categories to oversee current and new initiatives.

Work alongside cross-functional teams to identify business and technical requirements, assisting in drafting language to translate these into relevant documents (e.g., statements of work (SOW) and/or RFPs for distribution to contract managers and/or suppliers.



  • Facilitate contract negotiations concerning business and pricing terms with suppliers.
  • Acquire knowledge of sourcing policies and apply them effectively to support business partners in the sourcing process.
  • Analyze supplier proposals and present evaluations to cross-functional teams for decision-making.
  • Track contracts nearing expiration and collaborate with business partners to initiate renewal or termination actions.
Monitor expenditures to ensure contract compliance and identify potential savings opportunities.

  • Stay informed about industry trends relevant to your category and establish yourself as a trusted advisor to business partners.
  • Utilize critical thinking and sound judgment to propose actionable recommendations.
  • Foster collaborative relationships with internal business partners and develop strategic connections with suppliers.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS for the

Sourcing Manager:

A bachelor's or master's degree, or an equivalent advanced degree.

  • Certification as a Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) or as a Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) from the Institute of Supply Chain Management.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute.
  • Experience with Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
