Building Maintenance Technician

Job Responsibilities:

Position Overview: The individual will be accountable for the upkeep and repair of buildings and grounds at Wisconsin Community Services program sites.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that facilities comply with all organizational, contractual, and regulatory standards concerning maintenance, repairs, sanitation, and environmental safety.
  • Assess building and equipment repair requirements and notify the program Supervisor. Prioritize and execute repairs as instructed.
  • Guarantee that maintenance tasks are carried out as per the established schedule.
  • Address maintenance emergencies, including after-hours situations as required/on-call.
  • Procure maintenance supplies and equipment as directed.
  • Maintain an inventory of all maintenance tools and supplies.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Availability to respond to urgent repair needs at all Wisconsin Community Services facilities.
  • Participate in all mandatory training and staff meetings.
  • Operate facility vehicles as assigned.
  • Conduct custodial tasks.
  • Ensure environmental safety and sanitation.

Job Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Proficient understanding of building maintenance and repair processes. Strong organizational, planning, and communication skills are essential. Knowledge of general painting, plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, commercial door hardware, and building repairs is required. Ability to comprehend and execute both verbal and written instructions.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two years of work experience or training in various aspects of building maintenance.
  • Possession of a valid Wisconsin driver's license, auto insurance, and a vehicle.
  • Must pass a criminal background check and State Caregiver background screening, along with pre-employment health assessments.

Work Environment and Scope:

Work is conducted in a social service agency with interactions with residents. The role primarily operates independently and reports to the respective facility Director.

Working Conditions:

Work is performed both indoors and outdoors throughout the year. Local travel may be necessary to fulfill essential job functions. Specific work locations and schedules may vary. The role is situated in a dynamic social service environment with regular interactions with clients, colleagues, external professionals, vendors, and other visitors.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift over 50 lbs., climb ladders and multiple flights of stairs, transport supplies, operate floor cleaning equipment, move furniture, and stand for extended periods. Operation of machinery and tools is required. Must be prepared to work in adverse weather conditions.
