Job Responsibilities:

  • Ensure precision in the dispensing of all medications, including compounding and preparing intravenous admixtures, chemotherapy, and parenteral nutrition products.
  • Manage the issuance of controlled substances to patient care areas while maintaining compliance with legal record-keeping requirements.
  • Oversee and evaluate drug therapy regimens for potential contraindications, interactions, allergies, and the appropriateness of medications and dosages.
  • Accurately interpret and extract information from patient charts.
  • Identify and report any suspected adverse drug events promptly and accurately.
  • Support formulary management by minimizing non-formulary procurements and promoting effective drug therapy choices.
  • Provide clinical consultation and recommendations to healthcare practitioners, suggesting cost-effective therapeutic alternatives as necessary.
  • Deliver accurate drug information to healthcare professionals and patients as required.
  • Document all clinical activities and interventions thoroughly and accurately.
  • Engage in quality improvement initiatives and medication use reviews within the department.
  • Participate in the orientation and training of new staff as directed.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision, organizing and prioritizing tasks to ensure timely pharmacy services.
  • Conduct and document monthly inspections of all assigned medication storage areas without the need for supervisory intervention.

Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy with a BS in Pharmacy, MS in Pharmacy, or Doctor of Pharmacy degree.
  • Possession of a valid NYS Pharmacy license is required; oncology pharmacy board certification (BCOP) is preferred.
  • Proficient in basic and advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, with the ability to maintain focus and accuracy in a busy environment.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience in health system pharmacy is preferred but not mandatory.

Compensation:

The salary range for this position is USD $79.62 per hour. This range is provided as a good faith estimate and actual compensation will be influenced by various factors, including qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience. Additional forms of compensation, such as bonuses or benefits, are not included in this range.
