Job Details:
Part-Time - One Day Per Week - Evening Shift

As a Clinical Pharmacist, you will be responsible for accurately filling orders for parenteral and enteral medications, overseeing patient drug therapies, and providing essential drug information. In the absence of the pharmacy manager or supervisor, you may be required to undertake their critical responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure precision in the dispensing of all medications, including compounding and dispensing pharmaceuticals such as intravenous admixtures, chemotherapy, and parenteral nutrition products.
  • Manage the issuance of controlled substances to patient care areas while maintaining compliance with legal record-keeping requirements.
  • Evaluate drug therapy regimens for potential contraindications, drug interactions, allergies, and the appropriateness of prescribed medications and dosages.
  • Accurately read, extract, and interpret information from patient charts.
  • Identify and report suspected adverse drug events promptly and accurately.
  • Support the formulary by minimizing non-formulary procurements, utilizing therapeutic substitution protocols, and advocating for rational drug therapy choices.
  • Provide clinical consultation and clarification to healthcare practitioners, suggesting appropriate and cost-effective therapeutic alternatives as necessary.
  • Deliver accurate drug information to professional staff and educate patients and families when required.
  • Document all clinical activities and interventions thoroughly and accurately.
  • Engage in quality improvement initiatives and medication use review activities within the department.
  • Participate in the orientation and training of new employees as directed.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision, organizing and prioritizing work assignments to ensure timely pharmacy services.
  • Conduct and document monthly inspections of all assigned medication storage areas comprehensively and punctually, completing assignments without supervisor intervention.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy with a BS in Pharmacy, an MS in Pharmacy, or a Doctor of Pharmacy.
  • New York State Pharmacy license is required; Oncology pharmacy board certification (BCOP) is preferred.
  • Proficient in basic and advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, with the ability to maintain focus and accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience in health system pharmacy is preferred but not mandatory.

Compensation:
The posted salary range is USD $79.62 per hour. This range is a good faith estimate and actual pay will consider various factors, including qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience. The salary range does not include bonuses, differential pay, or other forms of compensation that may apply, nor does it reflect the value of benefits.
