Position Overview

This role is pivotal in delivering patient-centered care through direct operational and clinical pharmacy services. The pharmacist will engage collaboratively within the department and alongside other healthcare professionals to enhance both departmental and institutional initiatives. Leadership is demonstrated through active participation in departmental committees, involvement in postgraduate training programs, and advocacy for the pharmacy profession. This position may require working during weekends, holidays, and evenings as necessary. The distribution of time between operational duties and clinical services will be determined by patient needs, staffing levels, and overall pharmacy workload.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver exceptional pharmaceutical care as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team, ensuring patient safety and optimal outcomes. 35%
  • Lead educational initiatives in healthcare, including postgraduate training programs and instruction for nursing, pharmacy, and medical staff. 20%
  • Ensure precise order-entry, drug distribution, and clinical pharmaceutical care, which may encompass point-of-care testing. 15%
  • Actively engage in and lead departmental and institutional committees and projects, focusing on performance improvement, formulary management, regulatory compliance, patient safety, and financial stewardship. 15%
  • Provide timely and relevant responses to drug information inquiries and other pharmaceutical care services, documenting appropriately in patient care records. 10%
  • Represent Prisma Health in professional organizations through service, presentations, and publications. 5%

Supervisory/Management Role

This position does not involve management responsibilities and will report to a supervisor, manager, director, or executive.

Minimum Qualifications

  • PharmD with two residencies or one residency and BCPS certification, or two BCPS certifications.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in hospital pharmacy practice with a focus on patient care. Experience from hospital pharmacy practice combined with residency training will be considered.

Required Certifications/Registrations/Licenses

  • Registered Pharmacist in South Carolina.

Alternative Qualifications

Graduates from an ACPE accredited US college of Pharmacy with a pending SC intern certificate or those who have completed reciprocity requirements pending board interview for licensure may be considered.

In an ambulatory setting, BCACP certification may be accepted in lieu of BCPS certification.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Experience with postgraduate programs (specialized residency, fellowship), certificate programs, or Board certification.
