Good Samaritan University Hospital, a member of Catholic Health, is a non-profit teaching hospital with 537 beds, including 100 dedicated to nursing home care.

With a robust team of nearly 900 physicians and a level II Trauma Center, we serve over 100,000 patients each year along the south shore of Long Island.

Job Responsibilities:

As a Clinical Pharmacist, you will:

  • Accurately dispense all medications and prepare pharmaceuticals, including intravenous solutions, chemotherapy, and nutritional products.
  • Manage the distribution of controlled substances to patient care areas while maintaining compliance with legal record-keeping.
  • Evaluate drug therapy regimens for potential contraindications, interactions, allergies, and appropriateness of medication and dosage.
  • Interpret and extract information from patient records with precision.
  • Identify and report any suspected adverse drug reactions promptly and accurately.
  • Support the formulary by minimizing non-formulary purchases, utilizing therapeutic alternatives, and promoting rational medication selection.
  • Provide clinical advice and clarification to healthcare practitioners, suggesting cost-effective therapeutic options as necessary.
  • Deliver accurate drug information to both professional staff and patients/families when required.
  • Document all clinical activities and interventions thoroughly and accurately.
  • Engage in quality improvement initiatives and medication utilization reviews within the department.
  • Participate in the orientation and training of new staff as directed.
  • Work independently with minimal oversight, organizing and prioritizing tasks to ensure timely pharmacy services.
  • Conduct and document monthly inspections of assigned medication storage areas comprehensively and punctually.
Qualifications:

To be considered for this role, you should possess:

  • A degree from an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy, including a BS in Pharmacy, MS in Pharmacy, or Doctor of Pharmacy.
  • A valid NYS Pharmacy license; oncology pharmacy board certification (BCOP) is preferred.
  • Proficiency in basic and advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication abilities, with a capacity to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience in a health system pharmacy setting is preferred but not mandatory.
Compensation:

The estimated salary for this position is USD $79.62 per hour. This figure serves as a good faith estimate and actual compensation will depend on various factors, including qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience.
