Location: This position is open to candidates residing anywhere along the East Coast, with a preference for Massachusetts, New Jersey, or Pennsylvania.

The Project Manager plays a pivotal role in overseeing the establishment of new JD Sports locations and its affiliated brands. This position emphasizes New Store Openings, Expansions, and Renovations across North America. Reporting directly to the Senior Project Manager, the individual will manage the complete Capital Project lifecycle, coordinating with various JD Group Teams: Design, Projects, Cost, Procurement, as well as external contractors and vendors. Key Responsibilities

  • Formulate, track, and oversee the sanctioned capital budget for each project in collaboration with the Cost Management Team.
  • Collaborate closely with the broader Projects Team to deliver progress updates, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations as necessary.
  • Engage effectively with the Project & Design teams, continuously assessing and enhancing processes.
  • Proactively manage alterations in project scope, identifying potential risks and devising contingency strategies as needed.
  • Evaluate General Contractor bids alongside the Cost Manager/Cost Team to select an awarded contractor for each project, as well as the overall timeline.
  • Work in partnership with other Project team members, suppliers, and contractors to ensure accountability for their assigned tasks and timely completion.
  • Oversee the submitted requests for information (RFIs) during the bidding phase and throughout construction to ensure prompt responses with the necessary information to advance the project.
  • Review and process change order proposals, proposal requests, supplemental instructions, and other contractual documents.
  • Ensure the Architect of Record (AOR) has all required design components, including internal markups and vendor shop drawings, integrated into the bid set.
  • Coordinate with tenant design, operational, and technical providers to ensure precision in the development of tenant construction documents and build-out.
  • Lead weekly construction progress meetings, preparing meeting minutes, schedule updates, change order logs, and communications to the broader team.
  • Accountable for collaborating with general contractors to deliver projects on schedule and within budget, adhering to JD standards.
  • Document and track all owner-supplied material submissions, such as shop drawings and finish selections, for approval.
  • Conduct multiple site visits throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Undertake additional duties and projects as required.

Experience and Skills

  • Proficient knowledge in Retail Construction and comprehensive experience in the New Store Opening process.
  • Previous Project Management experience.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects while maintaining budgetary constraints and high standards.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Capability to adapt to real-time situations and respond accordingly.
  • Self-motivated and driven, yet able to work collaboratively within a team.

Education and Experience Requirements

A Bachelor's degree (B.A.) in engineering, architecture, or construction project management from an accredited institution, or equivalent experience is required. A minimum of 4+ years' experience in construction, store facilities, and maintenance, or a design role within a specialty retail environment.

Technical Skills

Intermediate proficiency with Google and Microsoft Office applications is expected. Familiarity with Smartsheets, Excel, and various web-based project management tools is advantageous.

  • Thorough understanding of tenant-improvement construction sequencing and durations to formulate construction phasing plans and strategies.
  • Ability to assess and communicate Landlord Construction exhibits; mall/center design criteria; core/shell structural issues relevant to Finish Line's intended designs; MEP and energy systems and requirements.
  • Ability to convey and discuss technical construction aspects of potential deals with other departments and teams: develop project schedules; identify Landlord delivery requirements, risks, and trade-offs; review and inform capital budgets.

  • Willingness to travel approximately 40% of the time by land and air.

The company reserves the right to modify this job description with or without notice. Employees may be asked to perform additional duties outside of normal job scope on a temporary basis per company policy. Salary range for the position: $100,000-$110,000; 10% bonus target. This role will be eligible for medical, dental, vision, 401k, sick leave, parental leave, and company paid time off plan.
