The Construction Project Manager is tasked with overseeing the establishment of new JD Sports locations and its affiliates. This role emphasizes New Store Openings, Expansions, and Renovations across North America. Reporting directly to the Senior Project Manager, the individual will manage the complete Capital Project lifecycle, coordinating with various JD Group Teams, including Design, Projects, Cost, Procurement, and external contractors/vendors. This role is expected to embody JD Finish Line's core values of Customer, People, Winning, Community, and Financial Responsibility through the following key responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities

  • Formulate, track, and oversee the sanctioned capital budget for each project in collaboration with the Cost Management Team.
  • Collaborate closely with the broader Projects Team to produce progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations as necessary.
  • Work effectively with the Project & Design teams, continuously assessing and enhancing processes.
  • Proactively manage project scope changes, identify potential risks, and develop contingency plans as needed.
  • Evaluate General Contractor Bids alongside the Cost Manager/Cost Team to select the awarded contractor for each project and establish the overall timeline.
  • Engage with other Project team members, suppliers, and contractors to ensure accountability for their designated tasks and timely completion.
  • Oversee the requests for information (RFIs) during the bidding phase and construction to ensure prompt responses with accurate information to advance the project.
  • Review and process change order proposals, proposal requests, supplemental instructions, and other contractual documents.
  • Ensure the Architect of Record (AOR) has all necessary design components, including internal markups and vendor shop drawings, integrated into the bid package.
  • Coordinate with the tenant's design, operational, and technical teams to guarantee precision in the development of the tenant's construction documents and build-out.
  • Lead weekly construction progress meetings, including preparing meeting minutes, updating schedules, maintaining change order logs, and communicating with the broader team.
  • Responsible for collaborating with general contractors to ensure projects are delivered on schedule and within budget according to JD standards.
  • Document and track all owner-supplied material submissions, such as shop drawings and finish selections, for approval.
  • Conduct multiple site visits throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Additional duties and projects as assigned.

Experience and Skills

  • Proficient knowledge in Retail Construction and comprehensive experience in the New Store Opening process.
  • Previous experience in Project Management.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects while maintaining budgetary constraints and high standards.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Capacity to adapt to real-time situations and respond accordingly.
  • Self-motivated and driven, yet able to work collaboratively within a team.

Required Education and/or Experience

A Bachelor's degree (B.A.) in engineering, architecture, or construction project management from an accredited institution, or equivalent experience is required. A minimum of 4+ years of experience in construction, store facilities, and maintenance, or a design role with a specialty retailer is essential.

Required Computer and/or Technical Skills

Intermediate proficiency with Google and Microsoft Office applications is necessary. Familiarity with Smartsheets, Excel, and various web-based project management tools is advantageous.

Salary range for this position is $100,000-$110,000; with a 10% bonus target. This role is eligible for medical, dental, vision, 401k, sick leave, parental leave, and company-paid time off plan.
