Position Overview

The Procurement Specialist is tasked with executing, reviewing, and overseeing all planning, scheduling, and order management activities for their designated products to ensure that customer delivery commitments are fulfilled. These products encompass assembled end items, semi-finished goods, and procured components.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Analyze Material Requirements Planning (MRP) for purchased component needs.
  • Confirm customer orders based on material availability and production capacity.
  • Issue production orders to manufacturing based on material readiness.
  • Communicate order status updates to customer service teams.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing to ensure timely product delivery.
  • Identify and address immediate material shortages as necessary.
  • Generate and utilize various reports to manage open purchase orders as business demands dictate.
  • Assist in managing inventory levels to meet budgetary targets.
  • Maintain planning parameters, including safety stock levels.
  • Work closely with Production, Engineering, Quality, and Strategic Procurement to resolve issues as they arise.
  • Review and process Engineering changes and new product introductions as required.
  • Create and/or distribute planning reports as necessary.

Qualifications & Skills

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Engineering (Production or Industrial), or Business Administration.
  • Two to four years of experience in Production Planning/Scheduling, Purchasing, and/or Customer Service within a formal MRP environment.
  • A-PICS Certification is preferred.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience with SAP systems.
  • Intermediate proficiency in computer applications (MS Word, Excel).
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles.
