We are currently in search of a Manufacturing Production Planner to become a vital part of our team and help us achieve our organizational objectives. The Manufacturing Production Planner will play a crucial role in coordinating all production planning activities within our operations. This position entails daily oversight of production processes, inventory control, and warehousing. The role reports directly to the Vice President of Supply Chain and requires exceptional communication skills, as it serves as the primary liaison between Sales, Production, and Shipping departments.

The ideal candidate will be a champion for best practices in production planning and standardization. Key responsibilities for the Manufacturing Production Planner include:

  • Assisting in the development of Master Schedule requirements based on demand forecasts, plant capacity, and historical data.
  • Collaborating with production and sales teams to provide updates and guidance based on ongoing progress and new developments.
  • Addressing volume and manufacturing changes as necessary to fulfill customer requirements.
  • Updating and distributing weekly production schedules in alignment with received sales orders.
  • Communicating with the sales team regarding special or unique orders.
  • Monitoring inventories of raw materials, work in progress, and finished goods to minimize costs and achieve inventory goals.
  • Overseeing the development and maintenance of tools that enhance production planning capabilities.
  • Ensuring accurate data collection over time for thorough analysis.
  • Maintaining precise inventory records and implementing measures for improvement.
  • Driving continuous improvement through training and strategic planning initiatives.
  • Maintaining accurate data on KPIs for analysis and ongoing enhancement.
  • Performing other job-related duties as required or assigned.

Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, logistics, operations research, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in production planning, logistics, and materials handling.
  • 3+ years in a manufacturing and/or distribution environment.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 10% of the time.
  • Availability to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and overtime as needed.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to manage changing business needs and requirements effectively.
  • Proven track record of applying critical thinking in diverse situations.
  • Taking calculated initiatives to drive improvements.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment as well as independently.
  • Process-oriented with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Capability to develop processes, train end users, and implement projects to completion.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook is required.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Ability to work in a cold environment when necessary.
  • Capability to lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Temperature: The production floor is maintained at approximately 40°F; other areas have moderate temperature levels. Freezer areas are zero degrees or colder.
  • Noise: Ear protection is required on the production floor; other areas have moderate noise levels.
