About the Role

The Process Control Engineer will play a critical role in developing control systems for our chemical manufacturing processes. This includes designing and implementing continuous control loops and sequential batch control algorithms. The successful candidate will have experience with PLC and control software, as well as a strong understanding of process control hardware and software.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, specify, install, and troubleshoot process control hardware and software.
  • Develop, test, and install PLC and control software in a high-volume, 24/7 production environment.
  • Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to ensure seamless integration of automation systems.
  • Supervise automation, control, and electrical contractors for various projects.
  • Serve as the site IT contact, coordinating with the Dover, Ohio site IT team for troubleshooting and support.

Requirements

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Chemical Engineering with substantial electrical training and experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working with control systems, including ladder logic, function block diagrams, and structured function.
  • Familiarity with networking hardware and software for distributed systems.
  • Experience with networked Allen-Bradley PLCs.
  • Experience in the chemical, plastic, petrochemical, gas/oil, pharmaceuticals, pulp/paper, power/utilities, and/or paint coatings industry.
  • Experience working in a PSM-regulated facility is a plus.
  • Experience with process instrumentation, discrete and continuous actuators, and single and variable speed motors.

Technical Knowledge

  • Advanced knowledge of control systems for batch and continuous processes.
  • Cascaded control schema design and implementation.
  • Rockwell SLC 500, PLC-5, CompactLogix, Control Logix system design and programming.
  • Compatible IO systems.
  • GE Digital iFIX HMI/SCADA system design and programming.

Work Skills and Abilities

  • Strong technical, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Knowledge and proficiency of MS Office tools.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment.
  • Ability to respond to visual and audible alarms.
  • Ability to work around hazardous chemicals and exposure to dust.
  • Ability to work in and be exposed to outside weather elements.
  • Physical ability to regularly work around and on industrial equipment.
  • Ability to lift 40 pounds.

Job Details

  • Salary: $95,000 - $115,000 per year.
  • Job Type: Full Time.
  • Schedule: 8 hours per day, day shift.
  • Travel: Minimal.
