Schedule Details:

Rotating schedule:
1st week: Monday and Tuesday 11:00 AM to 9:30 PM, Saturday 6:00 AM to 3:00 PM
2nd week: Monday - Friday 2:30 PM to 10:00 PM

Key Responsibilities:
  • Exhibits proficient understanding of patient positioning and image evaluation
    • 1) Capable of accurately positioning patients for all examinations
    • 2) Solves problems related to patient physical limitations during positioning
    • 3) Competent in reviewing images to determine if additional views are required
    • 4) Able to select and modify technical parameters governing the imaging process
    • 5) Identifies artifacts on images and assists in troubleshooting
    • 6) Minimizes repeat imaging
    • 7) Completes annual competencies
    • 8) Effectively communicates normal and abnormal anatomy captured in scans to the Radiologist
    • 9) Utilizes appropriate immobilization techniques
  • Operations, Equipment, and Safety
    • 1) Operates all equipment competently and modifies technical factors as necessary
    • 2) Sets up and uses appropriate coils, following scanning protocols as directed by the Radiologist
    • 3) Conducts start-up and shut-down procedures for all equipment, ensuring images are correctly labeled
    • 4) Inspects equipment daily during use and reports malfunctions
    • 5) Addresses equipment issues and patient physical limitations as they arise
    • 6) Adheres to safety standards in high magnetic field areas
    • 7) Educates staff on MRI safety and potential hazards
    • 8) Ensures compliance with MRI screening procedures
    • 9) Operates equipment safely according to manufacturer guidelines
    • 10) Attends mandatory training sessions
  • Patient Care
    • 1) Recognizes contraindications and responds to adverse reactions to contrast agents
    • 2) Documents allergic reactions per departmental protocols
    • 3) Evaluates MRI orders for appropriateness using established criteria
    • 4) Responsible for patient welfare and safety, implementing necessary immobilization devices
    • 5) Collects patient history and records it accurately
    • 6) Accesses veins for IV contrast administration following clinic policies
    • 7) Administers contrast material as required
  • PACS/EMR/Other Software
    • 1) Demonstrates proficiency in managing studies within the EMR
    • 2) Utilizes modality work lists to select patients and transmit images to PACS
    • 3) Retrieves appropriate studies from PACS
    • 4) Conducts quality control processes in PACS
    • 5) Ensures correct prior exams are selected
    • 6) Confirms availability of pertinent prior images in PACS
    • 7) Ensures image links are functional in the EMR
    • 8) Reports unresolved issues to the PACS Administrator
    • 9) Performs general troubleshooting as needed
    • 10) Familiar with using iPads for work-related tasks

Education/Experience Required:
  • Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program
    • 1-2 years of MRI scanning experience
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
  • Technical expertise in performing MRI studies
    • Ability to make diagnostic judgments during scanning
    • Strong communication and organizational skills
    • Basic computer proficiency
    • Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy
    • Competent IV skills
  • Registered ARRT (R)(MRI) or ARMRIT
    • CPR certified
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
  • Ability to work flexible hours
    • Capacity to stand for extended periods
    • Ability to view small monitors continuously during exams
    • Willingness to work overtime as needed
    • Ability to handle stress in clinical settings
    • Flexibility in start and end times
    • Exposure to infectious diseases and hazardous materials
    • Ability to lift and move patients as required
  • For positions involving direct patient care, the ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance is required. For heavier lifts, appropriate equipment and assistance are expected.
