Position Overview

The Director of Event Sales and Marketing will oversee the rental and scheduling of Albright College's facilities for external clients. This role includes managing the overall college calendar for events, developing marketing strategies, and implementing sales initiatives to increase revenue. The Director will work closely with an internal Event Coordinator who handles internal college events.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sales Strategy and Revenue Generation
    • Develop and implement a strategic sales plan to attract and secure external event bookings, including weddings, corporate events, and non-profit gatherings.
    • Set revenue goals and devise strategies to achieve and exceed them.
    • Create and optimize pricing strategies and packages to maximize profitability.
  • Client Acquisition and Relationship Management
    • Identify and target potential clients and markets, and build strong relationships with wedding planners, corporate event organizers, and non-profit representatives.
    • Conduct facility tours, prepare detailed proposals, and negotiate contracts to close deals.
    • Ensure a high level of client satisfaction through effective communication and personalized service.
  • Marketing and Promotion
    • Design and execute a comprehensive marketing plan to enhance visibility and appeal of Albright College's event facilities.
    • Leverage digital marketing, social media, and traditional advertising to reach target audiences and drive bookings.
    • Collaborate with the college's marketing team to create compelling promotional materials and content.
  • Calendar Management
    • Oversee the scheduling of external events, ensuring that the college's calendar is optimized for facility use while avoiding conflicts with internal events managed by the Event Coordinator.
    • Coordinate with the Event Coordinator to balance internal and external event needs and manage facility resources efficiently.
  • Event Coordination and Oversight
    • Work with the Event Coordinator and other college staff to ensure smooth execution of external events, including overseeing logistics, setup, and client requirements.
    • Address any issues or special requests to ensure successful event outcomes.
  • Reporting and Analysis
    • Track sales performance, revenue trends, and market conditions through regular reports and analyses.
    • Provide insights and recommendations to the college's leadership team to refine strategies and improve performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Hospitality Management, Marketing, or a related field. An advanced degree is a plus.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in venue sales or event management, with a proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales goals.
  • Strong understanding of event planning, facility management, and calendar scheduling.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, and digital marketing tools.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with strong organizational and multitasking capabilities.
