Position Overview

The Licensed Pharmacy Specialist collaborates closely with Staff Pharmacists and other departmental personnel, frequently engaging with nursing staff and various other team members to facilitate the medication management process. This role involves direct interaction with patients, visitors, and suppliers, tailoring communication and treatment approaches to meet the specific developmental and educational needs of each patient.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent (Preferred)
  • Minimum of one year of pharmacy technician experience (Preferred)
  • Availability for Day Shift (Preferred)
  • Availability for Night Shift (Preferred)
  • Authorization to work in the U.S. (Preferred)
Key Responsibilities
  • Accurately and safely processes medication orders or prescriptions, ensuring appropriate dosage forms are used.
  • Coordinates and schedules the processing and delivery of patient orders with pharmacists, including pre-delivery communications with nursing staff to assess inventory and patient-specific needs.
  • Prepares and manages chemotherapy medications, ensuring timely preparation and workflow management.
  • Maintains comprehensive medication records for patients and processes pharmacy charges as assigned.
  • Completes necessary regulatory documentation for chemotherapy drugs.
  • Compounds medications and IV admixtures while adhering to strict aseptic techniques.
  • Performs all duties associated with the pharmacy technician role.
  • Restocks Acudose machines and crash carts as required, ensuring availability of IV fluids.
  • Maintains a clean, organized workspace.
  • Enhances professional skills through ongoing education and training.
Essential Qualifications

• High School diploma

• Minimum of two years of relevant experience

• Licensed by the Illinois Department of Professional Regulation

• Experience in a hospital setting is mandatory

• Strong oral and written communication skills
