Position Overview


The Law Enforcement Officer role encompasses all security and law enforcement responsibilities during assigned shifts at state-owned and leased facilities.

This position is crucial in providing law enforcement services to the citizens of Wisconsin.

This role involves assessing appropriate law enforcement actions, interpreting state and federal laws, engaging with diverse communities, preserving evidence, enforcing regulations, administering first aid, and conducting regular patrols.

Compensation Details

The starting hourly wage for this position ranges from $25.00 to $37.00, based on qualifications and experience.

Job Information


This is a Limited Term Employment (LTE) position, capped at 1,039 hours within a 26 pay period timeframe (1 year). Residency in Wisconsin is required for LTE roles.


LTE positions are not classified as civil service roles and do not confer rights to permanent civil service status.

Candidates must possess a valid Wisconsin Driver's License with a clean driving record. The selected individual must successfully complete a series of evaluations, including drug screening, psychological assessments, medical examinations, vision tests, and fitness evaluations. Flexibility in scheduling is essential, including availability for weekends, holidays, and various shifts.

A criminal background check will be conducted prior to selection.

All hires must verify their identity and eligibility to work in the United States, completing the necessary employment eligibility documentation.

DOA does not sponsor work visas.

Required Qualifications


Applicants must be currently certified as a law enforcement officer by the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board (LESB), eligible for certification within 30 days of application, or currently enrolled in a 720-hour Law Enforcement Academy.

Additional information regarding law enforcement certification and standards is available through the appropriate channels.


Certification as a jail or correctional officer by the Law Enforcement Standards Board does NOT qualify. *
