Position Overview:

This role is a professional opportunity focused on addressing and stabilizing the psychological and social challenges faced by adults experiencing psychiatric emergencies.

This position is integral to a community-oriented, recovery-focused team dedicated to providing preventative and responsive services to adults in crisis.


Key Responsibilities:

Collaborate with law enforcement, family members, and other service providers to effectively manage acute crises for adults arriving at the facility.

Work alongside the facility's Registered Nurse and Peer Support Specialist to assess the medical, psychological, and social needs of individuals in crisis.

Engage clients in discussions to identify desired connections to community resources that can aid in crisis stabilization and enhance their quality of life.

Facilitate connections for individuals and their families with appropriate community services that address the root causes of their mental health crises.

Provide ongoing counseling and follow-up to ensure seamless access to services until the crisis is resolved and clients meet their immediate goals.

Lead peer support group sessions to foster community and recovery.

Conduct assessments of adults in immediate psychiatric distress, focusing on strengths while recognizing urgent psychiatric and social issues.

Maintain accurate documentation and manage client files in compliance with agency policies and relevant regulations.

Participate in team meetings to strategize solutions for ongoing client concerns.

Build and sustain positive relationships with other service providers in the community.

Collect and analyze data to evaluate service quality and program effectiveness.

Engage in team meetings aimed at assessing program operations and addressing team dynamics.

Take on leadership roles within the team, ensuring that all activities align with recovery principles; assist in training new staff and occasionally lead team meetings.

Provide community education on crisis management and the mental health service landscape.

Fulfill duties as outlined under relevant state statutes regarding psychiatric emergencies.

Offer clinical supervision to staff in accordance with state regulations.

Document incidents involving clients and ensure proper communication with supervisory staff.

Maintain regular communication with the facility's leadership, including updates on program status.

Participate in required training sessions, seminars, and conferences.

Serve as a field instructor for interns within the program.

Adhere to agency policies and procedures while performing daily tasks.

Qualifications:

Essential Skills, Experience, Education, and Credentials:

  • Master's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, or a related Human Services field is required.
  • A minimum of 3,000 hours of experience working with adults facing severe mental health challenges.
  • No travel is required for this position.
  • A training license is mandatory.
  • Master's level candidates not yet certified/licensed by the state may be employed in a Master's position but can only practice within their scope until certification is achieved, expected within one year of hire.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is necessary.
  • Professional demeanor and conduct; must demonstrate friendliness and courtesy towards clients, colleagues, and vendors.
  • Strong communication, listening, writing, and organizational skills are essential.
  • Ability to assist clients with daily living activities.
  • Familiarity with community resources available to consumers in the area is beneficial.
  • Proficiency in English and Spanish, both written and oral, is preferred.
