YOUR ROLE:

As a Healthcare Security Officer, you will deliver security services with professionalism and empathy, even in challenging situations. Your presence will inspire confidence among patients, visitors, and staff by maintaining a professional and approachable demeanor. You will be vigilant, ethical, and committed to enforcing safety regulations while ensuring your uniform and equipment are well-maintained.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prevent, respond to, and investigate incidents of workplace violence, serving as a primary resource for de-escalation.
  • Engage in emergency preparedness activities, including planning and responding to situations such as lost children, fires, and active threats.
  • Conduct thorough investigations of incidents on the premises and complete accurate reports.
  • Build partnerships with various departments and provide security awareness training to enhance overall safety.
  • Collaborate with local law enforcement and first responders to ensure compliance with policies.
  • May mentor new officers and assist in maintaining their competencies.
  • Maintain current training standards in emergency response, communication, and the use of security equipment.

Qualifications:

Licensure and Certification:

  • Firearm Owners Identification (FOID) Card or Concealed Carry Weapon (CCW) license.
  • A valid driver's license.
  • Certification in Conducted Energy Weapon (Taser) use within 90 days of hire.

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.

Experience: Minimum of one year in security, public safety, or customer service, with experience in emergency response.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Certification as a Security Officer in Healthcare (CHSO) within two years of appointment.
  • Completion of the State of Illinois Basic Security Officer course.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain professionalism in challenging situations.
  • Proficient in verbal and written communication.
  • Competence in using computers for documentation and reporting.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, and drive throughout the workday, with occasional lifting of up to 35 lbs.
  • Exposure to varying temperatures and potential hazards.
  • Capability to defend oneself and others in physical confrontations.
