YOUR ROLE IN MAKING A DIFFERENCE:

As a Healthcare Security Officer, you will uphold security protocols with professionalism, integrity, and empathy, even in challenging situations. Your presence will instill confidence in patients, visitors, and colleagues through a professional and approachable demeanor. You will be vigilant, ethical, and committed to enforcing safety regulations while maintaining your uniform and equipment in excellent condition.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting routine patrols to ensure safety and security, identifying vulnerabilities, hazards, and fire risks, and managing patient valuables.
  • Providing assistance to team members, patients, and visitors by offering information and directions.
  • Monitoring visitor conduct and addressing unauthorized individuals appropriately.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preventing and responding to incidents of workplace violence, serving as a primary resource for de-escalation.
  • Planning and executing emergency response protocols for situations such as lost or abducted children, fires, and active threats.
  • Documenting incidents accurately and addressing complaints with appropriate leadership.
  • Building partnerships with departments and units through regular liaison rounds.
  • Collaborating with law enforcement and first responders to ensure compliance with safety policies.
  • Mentoring new officers and maintaining training standards in security practices.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Licensure and Certification:

  • Firearm Owners Identification (FOID) Card or Concealed Carry Weapon (CCW) license.
  • A valid driver's license.
  • Certification in Conducted Energy Weapon (Taser) use within 90 days of hire.

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.

Experience:

  • Minimum of one year in security, public safety, or customer service, with experience in emergency response.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Certification as a Security Officer in Healthcare (CHSO) within two years of appointment.
  • Completion of the State of Illinois Basic Security Officer course.
  • Ability to maintain composure and professionalism in high-pressure situations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in computer usage for documentation.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, and drive throughout the workday, with occasional lifting of up to 35 lbs.
  • Exposure to varying temperatures and potential hazards; protective clothing may be required.
