Job Overview

Position Title: Head of Compliance

Role Summary: The Head of Compliance plays a crucial role in steering the development, execution, and oversight of the compliance initiatives within the organization. This position is pivotal in ensuring that all regulatory obligations, internal guidelines, and industry benchmarks are met, thereby safeguarding the organization's reputation and mitigating legal and regulatory risks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Formulate and execute a robust compliance strategy and framework to guarantee adherence to applicable laws, regulations, and internal standards.
  • Supervise the creation and implementation of compliance programs, including conducting risk assessments, audits, and ongoing monitoring activities.
  • Ensure that compliance policies and procedures are current and align with existing regulations and industry best practices.
  • Provide expert guidance and support to various departments on compliance matters, ensuring effective implementation and adherence to compliance protocols.
  • Track regulatory developments and evaluate their implications for the organization, revising policies and procedures as needed.
  • Conduct training and awareness initiatives to inform employees about compliance obligations and foster a culture of integrity and accountability.
  • Lead inquiries into compliance violations, manage corrective measures, and liaise with regulatory bodies as required.
  • Compile and present compliance reports and updates to senior leadership and the board of directors.
  • Collaborate with legal, risk management, and other departments to tackle compliance challenges and enhance overall risk management strategies.
  • Oversee and mentor the compliance team, offering leadership and support for their professional growth.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Law, Business Administration, or a related discipline; a Master's degree or Juris Doctor (JD) is preferred.
  • Significant experience in compliance management, including leadership roles and the development of compliance programs.
  • In-depth understanding of regulatory requirements, compliance frameworks, and industry standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to create and implement effective compliance policies and procedures.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for engaging with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficient leadership and team management skills.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional, Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager) are advantageous.
