Position Overview
Key Responsibilities:
As the Chief Accounting Officer, your responsibilities will include:
- Managing all accounting functions of the organization, encompassing billing, financial reporting, general ledger, cost accounting, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and revenue recognition.
- Collaborating with external auditors to address all audit matters and ensure compliance, as well as preparing annual financial statements in line with U.S. GAAP and other necessary supplementary schedules and information.
- Ensuring adherence to all SEC reporting obligations, including 10-K, 10-Q, and 8-K filings, along with proxy statements.
- Establishing, executing, and maintaining a comprehensive job cost system.
- Guiding the financial planning and budgeting initiatives of the organization.
- Creating and overseeing financial controls in accordance with company policies.
- Communicating financial performance metrics to senior management and the board of directors.
- Managing relationships with insurance providers and ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
- Supervising the organization’s transaction processing systems.
Candidate Qualifications:
To qualify for the Chief Accounting Officer role, candidates should possess:
- A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; an MBA or Master's degree in Accounting is highly preferred.
- An active CPA certification.
- A minimum of 5 years in a senior finance or accounting role, ideally within the energy sector.
- Prior experience in public accounting.
- Demonstrated experience in liaising with external auditors and managing SEC reporting.
- Strong understanding of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles, including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Experience with public company transitions (IPO).
- Knowledge of federal and state financial regulations.
- Ability to analyze financial data and generate financial reports, statements, and forecasts.
- Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Outstanding communication and leadership abilities.
