Position Overview

Are you a skilled Natural Resources Specialist looking for an exciting opportunity to advance your career with a state environmental agency?

Become a vital part of TCEQ's dedicated Water Supply team, where we are committed to safeguarding public health and conserving our natural resources.

TELEWORK OPTIONS

This role offers a balanced work-life arrangement with the flexibility of a hybrid work schedule, requiring a minimum of two days in the office.

YOUR FUTURE TEAM

As a member of TCEQ's Office of Water, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the availability of clean water and the protection of Texas' water resources.

This position is part of our Water Supply Division.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proven experience in implementing regulatory programs, including the development of rules and standard operating procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and train colleagues in both administrative and technical tasks.
  • Familiarity with public drinking water programs.
  • Strong skills in writing and editing technical documentation.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist management in the daily planning, organization, and coordination of team projects and timelines.
  • Oversee staff assignments and activities, ensuring quality management review and editing of deliverables.
  • Support the hiring process and staff development initiatives, contributing to performance management decisions.
  • Provide exceptional customer service related to the agency's drinking water quality program through various communication methods.
  • Offer technical assistance, training, and mentorship to staff and stakeholders, serving as a senior-level resource for assigned programs.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • A bachelor's degree in a natural or physical science, engineering, environmental studies, or a related field, along with six years of relevant experience.
  • Alternatively, a master's degree in the aforementioned fields with five years of experience, or a doctorate with four years of experience may also qualify.
  • Experience as a Natural Resources Specialist IV at TCEQ may be considered in lieu of educational requirements.
