Job Summary

Palisades Group, a leading alternative asset manager in the global residential credit markets, is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Accounting Intern to join its dynamic team. As a key member of the Finance and Accounting Team, the successful candidate will assist with various accounting and finance functions, including month-end closing, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the preparation and review of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Collaborate with Accounting Analysts to prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, and other accounting records.
  • Assist with the maintenance and updating of accounting records and files, ensuring accuracy and compliance with internal controls.
  • Support the preparation and filing of regulatory reports, including financial statements and other required documents.
  • Assist with analyzing expenses and accruals, identifying areas for cost savings and process improvements.
  • Meet processing and reporting deadlines, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of financial information.
  • Assist with responding to information requests and reviewing financial statements, providing clear and concise explanations of financial data.
  • Work collaboratively with the Finance and Accounting Team to improve financial processes, identifying areas for automation and efficiency gains.
  • Interface with fund administrators to ensure accurate and timely accounting for fund-related activity.
  • Understand and ensure processes comply with internal controls and business processes, recommending improvements as needed.
  • Assist with managing accounts payable, accounts receivable, and other day-to-day tasks, ensuring accurate and timely processing.
  • Participate in special department projects, providing support and assistance as needed.
Requirements
  • Working towards a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including key functions and pivot tables.
  • Basic SQL skills and experience with Microsoft Power BI a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong technical and analytical skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with ability to meet deadlines and prioritize tasks.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced, agile environment.
