Job Overview

The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Internal Auditor III, IV, or V. This role is essential in conducting thorough internal audits to enhance governance, risk management, and internal control processes.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Conduct complex internal audits while managing budgets and overseeing audit teams.
  • Implement annual audit plans and ensure timely completion of all audit activities.
  • Develop comprehensive audit scopes, objectives, and procedures to evaluate internal controls.
  • Analyze management operations and internal control systems for compliance and efficiency.
  • Prepare detailed audit reports and maintain documentation in accordance with auditing standards.
  • Review audits for compliance and recommend improvements to management processes.
  • Present findings to key stakeholders, including board members and executive management.
  • Assist in conducting agency-wide risk assessments and quality assurance programs.
  • Maintain confidentiality and ensure proper handling of sensitive information.
Qualifications

Minimum qualifications include:

  • A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, Information Technology, Economics, or a related field.
  • Progressive experience in governmental or compliance audits, with specific requirements based on the level of the position.
Preferred Qualifications

Preferred candidates will have:

  • Experience in internal auditing for a state agency.
  • Relevant certifications such as CIA, CPA, CISA, or CFE.
  • Proficiency in audit software and tools.
