Location: Fargo, ND HQ

Position Summary:

We are looking for a diligent, detail-focused, and seasoned Lead Financial Analyst to become a vital part of our finance team. The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 4 years of accounting experience (6+ years preferred), along with a robust background in financial statement assessment. A CPA designation is preferred but not essential. This role will be accountable for maintaining the accuracy and integrity of our financial documentation, generating financial reports, and contributing to the overall fiscal health of the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assist in the preparation and analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  2. Conduct variance analysis and clarify discrepancies between actual and projected figures.
  3. Support the budgeting and forecasting processes.
  4. Execute general accounting functions, including but not limited to: accounts payable, accounts receivable, prepaid expenses, inventory, land, general ledger, and inventory management.
  5. Reconcile account balances and bank statements, maintain the general ledger, and oversee month-end closing procedures.
  6. Ensure adherence to accounting principles, standards, and regulations (US GAAP).
  7. Assist with the annual tax return and/or audit process, including the preparation of audit and/or tax schedules and coordination with external firms.
  8. Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to enhance and uphold internal controls.
  9. Perform financial analysis to aid in business decision-making.
  10. Identify and implement process enhancements to improve efficiency and accuracy in financial operations.
  11. Collaborate with other departments to gather and verify financial information.
  12. Support ad-hoc projects and initiatives as required by management.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related discipline.
  • CPA designation preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant accounting experience.
  • Preferred: Experience in the homebuilding sector and over 6 years of experience.

Skills:

  • Technology: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong quantitative and analytical abilities with the capacity to collect, analyze, and interpret complex financial and market data. Proficient in financial modeling and forecasting techniques.

Work Environment:

Physical Demands:

  • Regularly required to sit, use hands to manipulate objects, tools, or controls.
  • Frequently required to communicate verbally.
  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, and perform physical movements.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
