Senior Medication Administration Leader

This role involves the secure administration of prescribed medications and treatments as indicated on the Medication Administration Record (MAR) and Treatment Administration Record (TAR). Additionally, you will provide personal care and general nursing support to residents as required, ensuring their needs are met in accordance with their individual service plans.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee the self-administration of medications within the Assisted Living Department, adhering to Federal and State regulations as well as company guidelines.
- Conduct narcotic counts with authorized personnel prior to accepting medication keys and report any discrepancies to a supervisor immediately.
- Manage medication orders and ensure timely notifications to responsible parties when supplies are low.
- Verify the accuracy of all received medications against pharmacy labels and the MAR, reporting any inconsistencies.
- Ensure proper storage of medications, maintaining separation between oral medications and topical treatments.
- Label all opened vials or bottles appropriately and follow pharmacy protocols regarding their usage duration.
- Conduct weekly inspections to remove expired medications from stock.
- Compare current MARs with new MARs during transition periods and alert supervisors to any discrepancies.
- Remove discontinued medications from the medication cart and return them to the supervisor.
- Assist residents with personal care tasks including bathing, grooming, and dining.
- Perform general nursing duties such as monitoring vital signs and documenting necessary information in daily logs.
- Respond to resident calls and assist with their needs as assigned.
- Supervise and guide other clinical staff as necessary.
- Maintain cleanliness of medication carts at the end of each shift and restock supplies as needed.
- Participate in staff training and in-service sessions.
- Ensure accurate medical record preparation for new admissions and readmissions within the required timeframe.
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent; relevant experience or training preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 1 month in a related role, preferably in Senior Living.
Certifications: Current Medication Technician certification as per state regulations.
Language Skills: Proficient in English for effective communication and emergency response.
Technical Skills: Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
