Position Summary:

The Vice President & General Manager (VP & GM) plays a pivotal role in developing, implementing, and executing strategic plans for sales and operations to drive revenue growth, market expansion, and profitability within the rental sector. This position focuses on mentoring and empowering the leadership team to unlock both individual and regional capabilities. The VP & GM will steer the strategic direction of branch and regional rental operations in alignment with the overarching goals of the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Achieve rental revenue and profitability targets while nurturing a sustainable sales and service framework.
  • Guide and support Regional General Managers (RGM) in meeting strategic revenue, profit, and market share objectives through effective management practices.
  • Enhance contribution margins by devising competitive pricing strategies for products and services that align with business objectives.
  • Foster and strengthen senior-level relationships with Key and Target accounts, concentrating on account management and growth strategies.
  • Conduct regular one-on-one evaluations with RGMs to assess progress against annual sales goals, pipeline, forecasting, activity plans, account management, operations, profitability, safety, and personal development objectives; document and track actionable follow-ups.
  • Design and implement innovative sales and operational incentive programs to drive performance.
  • Collaborate closely with VPs of Operations and Finance to optimize service and sales support costs, enhancing customer experience and profitability.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and competitive landscapes, utilizing insights to adapt strategies that promote revenue and market share growth.
  • Engage actively in industry trade associations and encourage team member participation to bolster regional presence and networking opportunities.
  • Identify and leverage growth and cost efficiency opportunities, developing solid business cases to support new initiatives.
  • Enhance customer loyalty by implementing processes that promote satisfaction and retention; analyze Target Account needs and devise strategies to expand market share.
  • Oversee regional marketing initiatives, coordinating traditional and digital outreach strategies to maximize visibility and relevance.
  • Ensure cost-effective execution and quality assurance in branch operations, emphasizing operational efficiency.
  • Optimize the reliability, utilization, and profitability of the rental fleet; support inter-regional collaboration for effective fleet management.
  • Lead initiatives for product enhancement and the development of innovative rental solutions.
  • Develop and monitor operational metrics to evaluate efficiency and guide continuous improvement efforts.
  • Enforce operational expense control measures across all responsible functions.
  • Drive branch facility expansion activities in line with the company's growth strategy.
  • Manage the forecasting and creation of monthly/annual budgets, incorporating comprehensive opportunity and account management processes.
  • Champion safety initiatives across the region, ensuring compliance with safety policies at all business locations and field operations.
  • Implement and oversee the company performance management system, fostering continuous improvement through performance evaluations and personal development programs.
  • Collaborate with senior management and company stakeholders to shape and refine overall business strategy.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree required; 10+ years of relevant experience in Engineering, Technical, Marketing, Business, or related fields. A Master's Degree in Business is preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of management experience in the Specialty rental industry, with expertise in heating, cooling, and power equipment.
  • Strong foundational knowledge of ERP, CRM, and business systems.
  • Proven leadership skills with a history of motivating and mentoring teams to achieve operational excellence.
  • Documented track record of driving growth and achieving business objectives.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Strategic mindset with data-driven analytical skills to optimize customer relations and strategic initiatives for robust returns.
  • Comprehensive understanding of financial metrics, market segmentation, customer preferences, and evolving industry trends.
  • In-depth familiarity with construction contracting, engineering, and direct selling processes, alongside experience in sectors like Healthcare, Higher Education, Industrial/Manufacturing, and Commercial Real Estate (CRE).
  • Willingness to travel approximately 50% of the time, with flexibility as necessary.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to successfully pass pre-employment background and drug screenings.
