Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Office Manager to join our team at Broward County Public Schools. The successful candidate will provide administrative support to the Principal and other school-based administrators, ensuring the smooth operation of the school office.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide secretarial assistance to the Principal and other school-based administrators
  • Coordinate with various District functions to facilitate resolution of administrative and operational issues
  • Provide back-up support for all administrative functions at the school, including front office reception
  • Receive, research, route and/or respond to inquiries from parents, students, staff and the general public
  • Coordinate office procedures for clerical staff, including pre-planning and year-end tasks
  • May contact parents/guardians regarding alternative means of transportation
  • Provide exceptional customer service amongst clerical staff, greeting students, parents and staff in a courteous manner
  • Serve as the primary payroll contact for the respective school
  • May serve as liaison to the Business Support Center and other departments
  • Coordinate the administration of personnel transactions, including posting of job vacancies and processing of pay supplements
Requirements
  • A standard high school diploma or satisfactory completion of an approved General Education Development Testing Program
  • A minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in a clerical or administrative support position
  • Advanced interpersonal skills and ability to interact effectively with the public
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and tactfully, both verbally and in writing
  • Demonstrated knowledge of school operations, policies and procedures
Preferred Qualifications
  • An earned associate's degree from an accredited institution
  • Successful completion of computer keyboard skills exam: Speed – 40, Accuracy – 70
  • Prior work experience in a school office setting, including bookkeeping, budget planning, personnel administration, payroll, or a related administrative discipline
Working Conditions

The Office Manager will work in a fast-paced office environment, interacting with students, parents, staff and the general public. The position requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
