Key Responsibilities- Assist in the development and implementation of radiation safety policies and procedures.
- Conduct radiation protection audits, surveys, and inspections to ensure compliance with applicable rules and regulations.
- Provide health physics support for diagnostic and therapeutic administration of radiation in various clinical areas.
- Measure and document radiation levels around patients receiving therapeutic treatments.
- Conduct surveys on radiation-protective equipment and recommend corrective actions.
- Maintain inventories of radiation detection instruments and radioactive materials.
- Respond to radioactive material spills and other radiation emergencies.
- Collect, survey, and process radioactive material waste.
- Prepare and generate routine reports.
- Bachelor's degree in physical, biological, or other related science.
- Minimum of one year of experience in radiation protection or a closely related field.
- Eligibility for certification by the American Board of Health Physics or an equivalent certifying body.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage deadlines.
- Ability to relate to all levels of personnel in a collaborative manner.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and manipulate a full 55-gallon/400-pound drum using a drum cart.
- Ability to wear a respirator.
