Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Diagnostic Medical Sonography Trainee to join our team at North Oaks Medical Center. As a Diagnostic Medical Sonography Trainee, you will be responsible for providing cross-training to quality employees from other radiologic/imaging modalities into Diagnostic Medical Sonography.

Key Responsibilities
  • Attend Sonography Boot Camp at the Institute of Ultrasound Diagnostics in Daphne, Alabama for a period of 4 weeks.
  • Complete the online general sonography curriculum for the next 11 months.
  • Work under the direct supervision of our registered sonographers.
  • Provide competent patient care to the following patient populations: Neonate, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult, and Geriatric.
Requirements
  • Current (FT) Employee.
  • Licensed by the Louisiana State Radiologic Technology Board of Examiners (LSRTBE).
  • Radiology certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT).
  • AHA BLS provider CPR.
  • No disciplinary action received in the prior 12 months.
Program Requirements
  • Clinical hours, rotations, and competencies are at the discretion of North Oaks management.
  • The American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) guidelines and requirements will be followed for proper clinical experience as required under the Registry exam Pre-requisites.
Equipment Requirements
  • Computer - desktop or Laptop.
  • Windows 7 OS or higher (or equivalent MAC OS if using MAC).
  • Microsoft Word and Microsoft PowerPoint.
  • Current up to date version of Internet Explorer or Firefox or Chrome browser.
  • Reliable High Speed Internet.
  • Web Camera, Microphone, Speakers (or Headset).
  • Email Address - MUST be checked multiple times per day.
Working Conditions

Positioning, lifting, and turning of patients using proper body mechanics.

Prepares patients for examinations under the direct supervision of a registered technologist by confirming physicians' orders, verifying patients' identities, obtaining adequate medical histories, and ensuring the appropriateness of examinations to facilitate timely accurate diagnosis of the patient.

Maintains a safe environment for patients, personnel, and visitors by requiring and supporting the establishment, maintenance, and education of an effective safety management.

Ability to respond to and withstand frequent crisis situations.
