Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Radiologic Technologist to join our team at North Oaks Medical Center. As a Radiologic Technologist, you will be responsible for performing radiographic procedures in accordance with established professional and departmental standards and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Performs all exams within personal licensed scope of practice.
• Demonstrates a complete working knowledge of all radiographic equipment used for diagnostic radiology and intra-procedural imaging.
• Reviews physician orders, checking for special instructions from requesting physician, and consults with the radiologist as necessary.
• Pleasantly greets patients, confirming their identification and introductions.
• Completely explains examination procedure to the patient and their family if present.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited program in Radiologic Technology required.
• Must be licensed by the Louisiana State Radiologic Technology Board of Examiners (LSRTBE) and achieve certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) within 90 days of graduation.
• Completed American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• One year Radiologic Technologist experience to include clinical rotation in a hospital or diagnostic imaging center setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates behaviors that reflect understanding and support of the organizational values and mission.
• Acquires, maintains, and shares current competencies in performance of job responsibilities.
• Performs all procedures.
• Demonstrates anatomy under investigation through proper patient positioning and administers contrast media according to the department policy and procedure manual.
• Obtains patient history and clinical data for correlation with the scans.
• Maintains necessary inventory of supplies for assigned room, rotating stock in an orderly fashion, and eliminating outdated items.
• Ensures all equipment is in good working condition.

Consistently maintains an attitude of cooperation, clear communication, mutual respect, and courtesy to all patients, visitors, team members, medical staff, volunteers and students.
Communicates pertinent information to all employees and customers in a timely fashion.
Demonstrates respectful interpersonal relations when dealing with others.

Follows North Oaks Health Systems Compliance Programs and Federal and State Regulatory guidelines.
Performs all other duties as required or requested by the Manager or Director.
Responsible for his or her actions, and individually accountable for satisfied patients/customers, confidentiality or patient and hospital information, quality outcomes, efficient operations, and the overall success of North Oaks Health System.
Performs all routine radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures including surgical and portable examinations as assigned.
Demonstrates anatomy under investigation through proper patient positioning and administers contrast media according to the department policy and procedure manual.
Obtains patient history and clinical data for correlation with the radiographs.
Reviews images for proper positioning, technique and identification.
Accountable for attending staff meetings, Complies with wearing of Hospital Identification badge as instructed, knows appropriate use of breaks and mealtimes, keeps up with Organizational and Departmental Regulator Compliance (OSHA, JCAHO, HCFA, OIG, etc...), Competencies, Policies and Procedures, Work area Cleanliness.
Has completed all mandatory classes in the past calendar year. Has completed all in-services relating to their position. Participates in continuing education activities.
Assists in the movement of patients to and from wheelchairs, stretchers and radiographic tables.
Maintains necessary inventory of supplies for assigned room, rotating stock in an orderly fashion, and eliminating outdated items.

Schedule

Minimum of Two (2) eight (8) hour shifts scheduled weekly between Friday 7:00pm - Monday 7:00am.
Must commit to eight (8) of nine (9) consecutive weekends.
Weekend schedule may be changed to provide necessary coverage regardless of day of the week, for holiday coverage on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years
