Job Overview

We are seeking adjunct faculty to join our pool for teaching courses in various subjects, including college composition, literature, foreign language (Spanish and French), and journalism.

Responsibilities
  • Teach courses in a variety of subjects, including college composition, literature, foreign language (Spanish and French), and journalism.
  • Develop and deliver syllabi and illustrated lectures.
  • Manage, motivate, and evaluate students.
  • Have knowledge of instructional strategies and techniques appropriate to teaching undergraduate level.
Qualifications
  • Masters in a specified discipline from an accredited college.
  • Doctorate preferred.
  • Commitment to teaching excellence required.
  • A minimum of one year teaching experience in higher education preferred.
  • Ability to successfully interact with students, other educators, and educational institution representatives in a professional manner.
  • Ability to learn relevant sections of Point Loma Nazarene University's online integrated database system for student grading.
  • Ability to adapt syllabi to include already established program, department, and university student learning outcomes.
  • Demonstrated Christian faith life and involvement in a local Christian church.
Special Instructions

The number of adjunct instructors hired varies from semester to semester, depending on the needs of the department.

Approved applicants will remain in the adjunct pool for the upcoming school year only.

To be reconsidered for the following school year, applicants will need to reapply.

If hired, official transcripts will be required from all undergraduate and graduate universities attended before a contract is issued.
