The Journalism Department at California State University is inviting applications for a pool of adjunct faculty members. These appointments are temporary and will be made based on departmental needs and available funding during the academic year. Candidates must be prepared for potential short-notice availability.
POSITION OVERVIEW
As an adjunct faculty member, responsibilities will include teaching undergraduate courses in various areas such as news reporting, multimedia journalism, web design, visual communication, feature writing, broadcasting, advertising, public relations, multicultural journalism, and media law.
COMPENSATION
Initial rank and salary will be determined by the hiring department based on the candidate's professional experience and educational qualifications. The salary ranges for lecturer positions are as follows:
- Lecturer A: $5,007-$6,359
- Lecturer B: $5,925-$12,594
- Lecturer C: $6,500-$13,831
- Lecturer D: $8,184-$14,487
REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must possess a Bachelor's degree in journalism or a related field, along with substantial professional experience in media or public relations.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
A Master's degree and prior experience in college-level teaching are preferred.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
All employees are mandated reporters under California law. Compliance with CSU Executive Order 1083 is required. A satisfactory background check will be conducted following a conditional offer of employment.
