Safety Officer for Community Programs

CAMBA's Community Programs: CAMBA operates services at multiple Community Centers throughout Brooklyn. Our programs are implemented in collaboration with various community organizations to deliver education, recreational activities, cultural experiences, health information, youth leadership initiatives, and social services to local students, their families, and other residents.
Position: Safety Officer
Reports To: Program Director
Location: Various Community Centers
Key Responsibilities: The individual in this role will be expected to:
- Manage access control and monitor traffic within facilities to uphold the safety and security of individuals and property.
- Identify and/or avert incidents of fire, vandalism, theft, or violations of established protocols.
- Remain stationed at assigned posts throughout the facility until properly relieved.
- Safeguard employees, visitors, and clients.
- Monitor and report any irregularities such as unusual behavior, property damage, fire hazards, etc.
- Provide assistance and directions to visitors as needed.
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- Completion of an 8-hour Pre-Assignment security guard training course certificate.
- Acquisition of a 16-hour On-the-Job security guard training course certificate within 90 days of employment.
- Completion of an 8-Hour Annual In-Service Course each calendar year.
- Possession and maintenance of a NYS Security Guard license.
- Obtaining NYS Security Guard registration and maintaining it throughout employment.
- Acquisition of CPR/First Aid Certification within 90 days of employment.
- Clearance from the Department of Health, Department of Education fingerprinting, and State Central Registry (SCR).
- Ability to maintain State Central Registry (SCR) clearance and fingerprint clearance throughout employment.
- Capacity to adapt to the culture and environment of a public service setting.
Status: Full-time (35 hours per week)
