Position Overview

The Group Leader role is integral to the success of community programming aimed at enhancing the lives of children, teens, and adults. This position is focused on fostering a supportive and engaging environment for participants.

Reporting Structure:

This position reports directly to the Program Director and Assistant Director.

Work Schedule:

This is a part-time role requiring a minimum commitment of 20 hours per week. Programming occurs on weekdays from afternoon to evening, with weekend hours available. Flexibility to work during school holidays and summer is essential.

Compensation:

The hourly wage for this position is set at $25.

Beacon Community Centers:

These centers are designed to offer both academic and recreational activities, ensuring that community members have access to enriching experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Site Director and Assistant Director to develop and implement engaging activities for participants.
  • Facilitate after-school programs, delivering hands-on, multi-sensory learning experiences.
  • Plan and prepare materials for daily activities.
  • Contribute to lesson planning, activity management, and maintaining a professional environment.
  • Supervise groups of participants during various activities, ensuring safety and engagement.
  • Manage daily attendance records.
  • Assist in organizing community events that involve families and local residents.
  • Ensure proper pick-up procedures for participants are followed.
  • Oversee Activity Specialists and support their adherence to program standards.
  • Review and approve lesson plans submitted by staff.
  • Support staff in managing group dynamics and addressing minor behavioral issues.
  • Step in for Activity Specialists as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Demonstrate reliability and teamwork in all interactions.

Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma is required; some college education is preferred.
  • A passion for working with children and the ability to pass a background check are essential.
  • Experience or interest in sports, arts, or creative activities is advantageous.
