Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Infrastructure Engineer to deliver comprehensive infrastructure design, architecture, implementation, and support services for advanced generation technology assets. This role encompasses intricate power generation control systems and the network infrastructures that underpin power generation facilities.

As a vital member of the Generation Infrastructure, Security, & Compliance (GISC) team, you will play a crucial role in influencing design and planning decisions, fostering relationships with internal stakeholders, and resolving infrastructure-related challenges. This position serves as a crucial link between Engineering, Operational Technology (OT) support, and Information Technology (IT), necessitating a broad understanding of these domains and a commitment to ongoing technical development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, architect, implement, and sustain sophisticated industrial virtualization infrastructures, integrating with technologies such as Palo Alto firewalls/VPNs, Cisco switches/routers, and various server/infrastructure solutions.
  • Provide systems administration and integration for diverse control technologies, encompassing directory services, monitoring, patching, privileged access management, logging, OS management, backup & disaster recovery, and other operational systems supporting power plants.
  • Collaborate with Cyber Security Services to employ standardized security measures to safeguard sensitive data, systems, applications, and physical assets.
  • Identify and evaluate emerging technologies and trends, formulating recommendations for future implementation while navigating vendor technology and licensing changes.
  • Manage individual work tickets while cultivating strong relationships and communication to maintain high service levels with stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of formalized service management and departmental documentation.
  • Engage with vendors for hardware and software procurement, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Deliver executive-level status reports.
  • Lead and oversee projects.
  • Understand and comply with all relevant NERC CIP requirements.

Qualifications

Completion of a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution relevant to the role is required.

Experience

A minimum of five (5) years of full-time experience in virtualization engineering is essential. Candidates must demonstrate successful accomplishments that meet the following criteria:

  • At least 5 years of experience in implementing, supporting, and troubleshooting VMware virtualization stacks, including all associated hardware and software.
  • Experience with various technology systems such as Splunk, BeyondTrust Password Management, Cohesity Backup, Windows Server, Active Directory, and ManageEngine Patch and Endpoint Management is preferred.
  • Experience in supporting full-stack technology implementations from network to business applications is advantageous.
  • Experience in evaluating security configurations to ensure risks are effectively mitigated.
  • Experience in establishing and assessing best practices related to virtualization systems, operating systems, and monitoring.

  • Proven communication skills, including active listening and the ability to build productive working relationships.
  • Strong organizational skills for documenting, categorizing, and prioritizing requirements.
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities and strategic thinking skills.
  • Knowledge of network architectures, TCP/IP, routing, and switching.
  • Familiarity with Control Systems technologies such as Emerson, Foxboro, Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation, and GE is desirable.
  • Ability to work remotely or on-site as necessary, including travel to various locations and generation facilities.
  • Commitment to safety and reliability is paramount.
  • Current industry certifications will be considered an advantage, including VMware, Cisco, Palo Alto, Microsoft, Cyber Security, Project Management, and Service Management.
