Job Title: Associate Manager Commercial Development

At Thermo Fisher Scientific, we are seeking an experienced Associate Manager to join our Commercial Development team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing a team within the department and overseeing day-to-day responsibilities, including quality and accuracy reviews and approvals for all deliverables.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage staff, including interviewing and selection, job description preparation, professional development, goal setting, performance management, coaching and mentoring, employee counseling, and separations.
  • Approve courses of action on salary administration, hiring, corrective action, and terminations.
  • Review and approve time records, expense reports, requests for leave, and overtime.
  • Manage resource allocation and prioritization of team deliverables, ensuring appropriate allocation based on team expertise, experience, and workload.
  • Attend client meetings and teleconferences to defend organization proposals prior to project award, negotiate pricing or contracts post-award, or to maintain and improve processes and relationships.
  • Evaluate current systems and make recommendations to assure high-quality proposals and contract modifications.
  • Coordinate timely collection of data for proposal and budget development in response to Requests for Proposal, including possible oversight of completion by other analysts on the commercial team.
  • Gather and analyze data for proposals and contract modifications and track revisions on a timely basis.
  • Prepare, review, and analyze deliverables (i.e., bids, proposals, text, and budget) to ensure they incorporate and meet metrics, client expectations, and other benchmarks.
  • Approve quality deliverables that conform to the organization's contract requirements and meet client needs. Apply quality control procedures and ensure deliverables are completed on a timely basis.
  • Communicate financial concepts and associated calculations and analysis.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent and relevant formal academic/vocational qualification.
  • Previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 0 to 5 years).
  • 1+ year of leadership responsibility.
  • In some cases, an equivalency, consisting of a combination of appropriate education, training, and/or directly related experience, will be considered sufficient for an individual to meet the requirements of the role.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Good knowledge and understanding of contractual documents.
  • Ability to manage, motivate, and mentor staff.
  • Solid computer skills, including the use of Microsoft (MS) Word, MS Excel, Adobe Acrobat, etc. (e.g., creating pivot tables/charts, formulas, etc.).
  • Professional and effective verbal and written communication skills with the demonstrated ability to present and articulate business topics to all levels internally and externally.
  • Strong understanding of and ability to communicate financial concepts and associated calculations and analysis.
  • Strong organizational, judgment, analytical, math, decision-making, and interpersonal skills to manage complex projects in parallel and manage rapidly changing priorities.
  • Ability to identify and drive positive change through process improvement, feedback channels, and project participation.
  • Strong collaboration and project management skills with the ability to meet clients' requirements for proposal and budget development and successful budget negotiation.
  • Ability to identify and anticipate potential problems and take proactive action utilizing appropriate escalation channels.
  • Demonstrated ability to serve as an account lead, including participation and/or leadership of client meetings and teleconferences and trackers.
Working Environment:

Able to communicate, receive, and understand information and ideas with diverse groups of people in a comprehensible and reasonable manner.

Able to work upright and stationary for typical working hours.

Ability to use and learn standard office equipment and technology with proficiency.

Able to perform successfully under pressure while prioritizing and handling multiple projects or activities.

May require as-needed travel (0-20%).
