Job Summary:

The Surgery Scheduler/Insurance Verifier plays a crucial role in planning and scheduling surgical and related appointments for doctors, ensuring seamless coordination between doctors, anesthesia, lab, and insurance carriers. This position requires a high level of organization, attention to detail, and effective communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Scheduling: Maintain a master schedule to ensure coordination between doctors, anesthesia, lab, and insurance carriers.
  • Scheduling Surgeries: Coordinate schedule between Surgery Center and doctor's offices.
  • Gathering Patient Information: Gather all detailed information for the patient's chart, including type of procedure, supplies, special equipment required, insurance information, etc.
  • Verifying Insurance Benefits: Verify patient insurance benefits by contacting insurance companies and interpreting managed care contracts.
  • Determining Pre-Certification Requirements: Determine pre-certification requirements and verify insurance benefits by reviewing contracts and patient's quoted benefits.
  • Coordinating Anesthesia Services: Schedule all surgical anesthesia services required according to doctor preference and availability.
  • Communicating with Patients: Contact patients regarding moneys due prior to date of surgery and assist with credit agreements (Care Credit).
  • Reviewing Financial Records: Review financial records for correctness and attach correct documentation to verification sheets.
Requirements:
  • High School education and/or equivalent.
  • At least TWO YEARS direct experience with experience scheduling surgeries.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in insurance verification and estimates.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
