Position Summary

The Surgical Scheduler is responsible for coordinating surgeries in a timely manner. This includes contacting patients to schedule procedures, maintaining accurate schedules, and ensuring all necessary pre-op clearances and labs are obtained.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate surgical calendars and schedules to ensure optimal provider utilization.
  • Contact surgical facilities to schedule and post surgeries, taking into account the type of procedure and facility requirements.
  • Review, complete, and file consent forms and ABNs, ensuring copies are stored in the electronic medical record.
  • Follow up on cancelled surgeries for rescheduling and coordinate with the HEA Surgery Interview department as needed.
  • Contact insurance companies to verify coverage and ensure all necessary information is obtained.
  • Verify all consents are completed with patient signature, witness signature, and date, and confirm copies are stored in the electronic medical record.
  • Complete pre-op phone calls with patients to verify arrival date and time, what to bring, and to be NPO.
  • Assist with surgery billing and problem resolution as needed.
  • Update and maintain patient instruction handouts to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Take measures to reduce surgery cancellations and improve overall efficiency.
