Position Overview:

The Department of Endocrinology at Tower Health is in search of a dedicated Pediatric Clinical Registered Dietitian (RD) to deliver specialized medical nutrition therapy for pediatric patients in both inpatient and outpatient environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • The Clinical Dietitian III will conduct thorough nutrition evaluations, identify nutrition-related issues, formulate and execute tailored interventions, and assess outcomes using the Nutrition Care Process. This role may include privileges for medical nutrition order writing and participation in electronic medical record (EMR) order entry for various nutritional therapies, including oral nutrition supplements, enteral nutrition, and parenteral nutrition in accordance with established protocols.
  • Engagement in continuous education initiatives for hospital personnel, community groups, and professional organizations is essential. The Clinical Dietitian III will also contribute to performance improvement and research activities while fostering a culture of self-development and learning.
  • Demonstrating advanced clinical nutrition expertise in complex pediatric nutrition and diabetes management is crucial. The Clinical Dietitian III will provide ongoing nutrition assessments and counseling to support patients in achieving optimal diabetes control.

Essential Skills and Competencies:

The ideal candidate will exhibit the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and communicate proficiently with patients, families, and medical professionals. A strong foundation in medical nutrition therapy principles, particularly in pediatric contexts, is required. The candidate should be adept at independent functioning within assigned patient care units and possess the ability to educate and counsel others.

Knowledge of the scientific principles underlying diabetes management, including carbohydrate counting and insulin administration, is essential. Familiarity with commercial nutritional products, including oral supplements and feeding modalities, is also necessary. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and EMR systems is expected.

Qualifications:

Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, along with Registered Dietitian (RD) credentialing from the Committee on Dietetic Registration (CDR) and licensure in Pennsylvania (LDN).

Experience: A minimum of two years of relevant clinical experience as a Clinical Registered Dietitian, with a strong preference for pediatric experience and expertise in diabetes management.

Licenses and Certifications: Current Registered Dietitian (RD) credentialing and Pennsylvania State Licensure (LDN) are required within a specified timeframe post-hire. Board certification in Diabetes Education (CDE) is preferred.
