This position is remote, with daily dispatch from a home office and involves significant travel.
The Equipment Service Technician is responsible for delivering outstanding technical services and customer support while maintaining robust relationships with manufacturers, suppliers, and sales teams. The ideal candidate will be a proactive and energetic leader who thrives in a collaborative setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct on-site installation, repair, maintenance, and troubleshooting of packaging machinery, while providing training to customers.
- Engage in ongoing training related to equipment and resources essential for departmental functions.
- Participate in Branch and Technical Service meetings as scheduled by management.
- Deliver exceptional customer service by providing expertise, guidance, and addressing inquiries and concerns.
- Maintain strong vendor relationships through timely communication, effective problem-solving, and site visits when necessary.
- Collaborate with the VP of Sales and Sales Representatives to ensure excellent customer support.
- Identify errors or technical issues through visual and audible inspections of machinery and determine appropriate solutions.
- Dismantle machinery and equipment to access and resolve issues.
- Diagnose, install, and repair electrical components such as transformers, wiring, and electronic machinery.
- Generate timely and detailed service reports.
- Oversee work procedures, schedules, and streamline workflow.
- Prepare and submit monthly expense reports.
- Assist with office and warehouse tasks as time allows.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience with machinery and conveyor systems is required.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
Skills and Competencies:
- Exceptional customer service skills with a focus on building business relationships.
- Proficient in computer applications including MS Office Suite, Allen Bradley or similar PLCs, smartphones, and tablets.
- Willingness to travel locally and work overtime as needed.
- Dependable transportation, a valid driver's license, and proof of insurance are required.
- Familiarity with scheduling and expediting service calls.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, business analysis, and project management abilities.
