Patient Care Coordinator

Position Overview:
As a vital member of our healthcare team, the Patient Care Coordinator plays a crucial role in managing the scheduling of intricate multidisciplinary care for established patients undergoing comprehensive cancer treatment. This position is essential in guiding patients through the healthcare landscape, ensuring effective communication among patients, their families, the care team, and various clinic departments and providers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate the coordination of care by managing a high volume of incoming calls and scheduling requests.
- Ensure that patients receive timely and organized care by triaging multiple scheduling work queues.
- Collaborate with patients to navigate their healthcare journey, addressing any concerns and facilitating communication.
- Perform additional duties as required to support the team and enhance patient care.
Qualifications:
- Experience: No prior experience is necessary unless an associate degree is not held. Familiarity with complex oncology scheduling systems is advantageous.
- Education: An Associate Degree is mandatory. If lacking a degree, a high school diploma or equivalent along with a minimum of two years of experience in intake, registration, scheduling, or related clerical roles in a medical environment is required. Completion of a medical terminology course is preferred, and a Bachelor's degree is favored.
Essential Skills:
- Proficient understanding of medical terminology.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with excellent interpersonal abilities.
- Capacity to identify critical issues and make independent judgments.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to analyze, problem-solve, and manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Exceptional follow-up skills are essential.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other Office applications.
- Strong critical thinking capabilities.
