Ascension Wisconsin Hospital is dedicated to providing exceptional care through our community-focused health services. The primary objective of this role is to act as a crucial link between patients, their families, insurance providers, Patient Financial Services, and other healthcare professionals. Your responsibilities will include:
Key Responsibilities:
1. **Facilitate Patient Engagement:** Ensure accurate and complete demographic information is obtained and verified to support seamless billing and patient tracking.
2. **Financial Security:** Collect out-of-pocket expenses from guarantors to optimize hospital reimbursement.
3. **Regulatory Compliance:** Uphold adherence to EMTALA, DNV, HIPAA, and all relevant hospital and governmental regulations regarding admissions and medical records.
4. **Customer Service Excellence:** Deliver outstanding service by understanding customer needs and fostering strong relationships.
5. **Professional Communication:** Answer calls in a courteous manner, record messages, and relay information to the appropriate medical personnel.
6. **Data Management:** Accurately enter and maintain demographic information to enhance revenue cycle efficiency.
7. **Collection Efficiency:** Maximize collection efforts at the time of service while maintaining a customer-oriented approach.
8. **Documentation Management:** Scan and organize all registration and clinical documents, ensuring proper maintenance of medical records.
9. **Respond to Requests:** Address medical record inquiries from patients, physicians, and hospitals promptly.
10. **Financial Accountability:** Manage cash drawer in accordance with established policies.
11. **Facility Maintenance:** Ensure a clean and organized working environment across all areas of the facility.
12. **Equipment Oversight:** Report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs to the appropriate personnel.
13. **Team Collaboration:** Participate in staff meetings and other required company gatherings.
14. **Support Medical Staff:** Assist healthcare professionals as needed.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1 year experience in patient registration and insurance verification within a healthcare environment is required; experience in Emergency Department registration is strongly preferred.
- Basic understanding of medical terminology is essential.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications (MS Word, Excel, and Outlook) is strongly preferred.
- Fluency in English is required.
