We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Patient Service Representative to join our team at Advocate Aurora Health. As a key member of our clinical operations team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our pediatric department.
Key Responsibilities- Registration and Scheduling: Register patients, obtain demographic and insurance information, verify insurance coverage, collect co-pays, deductibles, and previous balances, and post payments and updates demographic and insurance information.
- Customer Service: Greet patients and visitors, respond to routine requests for information, answer telephone calls, screen calls, and take messages.
- Appointment Coordination: Schedule patient appointments, coordinate cancellations, reschedules, and additions to schedules, and provide accurate, detailed information regarding test preparations, time patients to arrive, and any other directional information needed by patients.
- Insurance and Financial Management: Update insurance, financial responsibility, and other data when changes or additions occur, and communicate to patients as appropriate.
- Problem Resolution: Identify, report, and resolve problems regarding registration to appropriate individuals and departments.
- Patient Flow Management: Monitor patient flow to ensure patients are cared for in the most efficient and courteous manner, and offer various assistance to patients, including arranging transportation needs, providing directions, locating wheelchairs, etc.
- Visit Closure: Perform visit closure, including checking out patients after visits, scheduling follow-up appointments, and providing patients with a visit summary.
- Administrative Tasks: May file, retrieve, and/or deliver patient information and/or records, and complete required forms/documentation.
- Education: High School Graduate.
- Experience: No experience required.
- Skills: Excellent customer service skills, excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills, ability to effectively communicate with a variety of patients, staff, and physicians, intermediate computer skills, including experience in using personal computers, Microsoft Office or similar applications, and electronic mail, training or experience in keyboarding/data entry with an emphasis on speed and accuracy, excellent organizational skills, ability to read and understand verbal and written instructions, and to sort and file information alphabetically and numerically, ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Exposed to normal medical office environment, may be exposed to potentially ill patients.
- Must be able to sit for extended periods of time.
- Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
