Team Overview and Job Responsibilities

This role reports directly to the Process Engineering Manager. The Process Engineer will oversee all initiatives related to process or project enhancements within manufacturing. The engineer will analyze the root causes of product failures and implement effective solutions. A commitment to a Safety-First approach is essential in all activities. This position requires the selected individual to gain a comprehensive understanding of the overall plant processes and data collection methods for troubleshooting and process enhancement initiatives. This role does not include supervisory responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with plant personnel to pinpoint priority areas for process enhancement throughout the manufacturing sector and select the most suitable improvement techniques.
  • Partner with plant staff to establish process enhancement strategies, including team-based systems, training in improvement techniques, and training for supervisory and hourly associates.
  • Elevate manufacturing excellence by identifying external benchmarks and exploring opportunities to implement best practices within our organization.
  • Assist as needed to ensure project completion and overall process enhancement outcomes.
  • Achieve measurable productivity improvements and key performance indicator goals as defined by the Plant Manager and the Process Engineering Manager.
  • Collaborate with R&D materials engineering to conduct experimental compounding trials.
  • Research and identify innovative process enhancement strategies for World Class Manufacturing.
  • Develop training programs and procedures, implementing new process enhancement strategies.
  • Plan and execute capital projects within budget and on schedule.
  • Effectively communicate with and motivate team members.
  • Manage multiple tasks simultaneously across a diverse range of applications.
  • Implement plans and cultivate necessary support at all organizational levels.
  • Assist the Quality team in identifying issues, root causes, and implementing process solutions.
  • Support Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) plant objectives as required.
Candidate Profile:

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Polymer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with high-intensity mixing and extrusion technologies for rubber and/or plastics.
  • Familiarity with batch-mixing processes.
  • Experience with Wonderware-based applications or other recipe management/plant automation software.
  • Experience with enterprise management systems such as SAP.
  • Knowledge of Continuous Improvement tools and methodologies.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of experience in a process or industrial engineering role.
  • Experience with Environmental and Quality management systems such as ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001.
  • 1 - 3 years of prior experience with Banbury Mixer processes.
  • Experience with BUSS Kneader technology.
  • Lean Six Sigma Greenbelt and/or Blackbelt certification.
