Job Summary

The Pharmacy Manager is responsible for coordinating, directing, and managing the execution of all administrative and clinical activities in the pharmacy department. This role ensures consistent and efficient delivery of services, controls costs, minimizes waste, optimizes customer relationships, and delivers positive patient outcomes while maintaining compliance with Federal and state regulatory agencies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plans, coordinates, directs, and evaluates all clinical activities, including supervision of refilling machines, medical prescriptions database entries, and dispatch of medicines.
  • Plans, coordinates, directs, and evaluates all administrative activities, including scheduling of pharmacy technicians tasks, monitoring process compliance, and monthly reporting.
  • Implements processes and procedures to comply with regulations for medicine handling, including reception and storage of medicines, inventory and expenses controls.
  • Manages day-to-day activities of the pharmacy technicians and monitors their performance to meet departmental goals.
  • Communicates with nursing, doctors, and administrative areas to provide alternatives and makes and/or supervises preparation of interveinal drugs.
  • Maintains pharmacist's certifications and maintenance of database privileges and access controls to medical records.
  • Provides pharmaceutical care to patients as a staff pharmacist.
  • Assesses and maintains pharmacy inventory and executes necessary orders, including reviews, to maintain optimal supply and ongoing availability of drugs.
  • Leads processes for hiring of pharmacy staff, onboarding, and performance management, including leadership of competency evaluations process and documentation.
  • Manages internal workflows of acute pharmacy, including optimization of staffing and scheduling to maintain best-in-class and streamlined pharmacy operations.
  • Participates in meetings and provides insight to hospital committees to ensure coordination among cross-functional groups.
  • Assists in execution of plans for lowering costs, increasing efficiency, and driving profitable growth to support strategic business objectives in the acute pharmacy business.
  • Assumes responsibility for Quality Assurance monitoring and completing End of the Month reports as assigned by the Director of Pharmacy.
Requirements
  • Must be a "good standing" licensed Pharmacist in the state of Colorado.
  • 3+ years of hospital pharmacy and preferably hospital pharmacy management experience preferred.
  • Ability to develop, implement, and lead all aspects of pharmacy operation.
  • Ability to see, hear, write, and speak clearly in order to communicate with customers and health care professionals.
  • Excellent planning, organizing, and leadership skills.
  • Strong customer orientation and negotiation skills.
  • Pressure to perform in emergency situations.
  • Overall decision-making responsibility.
  • Ability to work on call or be in an on-call rotation.
  • Customer/vendor credentialing is required (this may include vaccinations). More details will be provided during if you are selected for an interview.
