Key Responsibilities- Plans, coordinates, and directs all clinical activities, including supervision of refilling machines, medical prescriptions database entries, and dispatch of medicines.
- Plans, coordinates, and directs all administrative activities, including scheduling of pharmacy technicians tasks, monitoring process compliance, and monthly reporting.
- Implements processes and procedures to comply with regulations for medicine handling, including reception and storage of medicines, inventory and expenses controls.
- Manages day-to-day activities of the pharmacy technicians and monitors their performance to meet departmental goals.
- Communicates with nursing, doctors, and administrative areas to provide alternatives and makes and/or supervises preparation of intravenous drugs.
- Maintains pharmacist's certifications and maintenance of database privileges and access controls to medical records.
- Provides pharmaceutical care to patients as a staff pharmacist.
- Assesses and maintains pharmacy inventory and executes necessary orders, including reviews, to maintain optimal supply and ongoing availability of drugs.
- Leads processes for hiring of pharmacy staff, onboarding, and performance management, including leadership of competency evaluations process and documentation.
- Manages internal workflows of acute pharmacy, including optimization of staffing and scheduling to maintain best-in-class and streamlined pharmacy operations.
- Participates in meetings and provides insight to hospital committees to ensure coordination among cross-functional groups.
- Assists in execution of plans for lowering costs, increasing efficiency, and driving profitable growth to support strategic business objectives in the acute pharmacy business.
- Assumes responsibility for Quality Assurance monitoring and completing End of the Month reports as assigned by the Director of Pharmacy.
- Must be a licensed Pharmacist in good standing in the state of Colorado.
- 3+ years of hospital pharmacy and preferably hospital pharmacy management experience.
- Ability to develop, implement, and lead all aspects of pharmacy operation.
- Ability to see, hear, write, and speak clearly to communicate with customers and healthcare professionals.
- Excellent planning, organizing, and leadership skills.
- Strong customer orientation and negotiation skills.
- Pressure to perform in emergency situations.
- Overall decision-making responsibility.
- Ability to work on call or be in an on-call rotation.
